VACANCY NOTICE: Research and Communications Associate
Duty Station: IOM Vienna, Austria
Position Title: Research and Communications Associate (m/f) – 100%
Application Deadline: 16 November 2014
Starting Date:  January 2015
Classification:  G 4/1, OYFT;
Duration of position: 12 months (with possibility of extension)
Under the supervision of the Head of Research and Migration Law Department, the incumbent is responsible for:
General Functions:
  • Undertaking compilation and drafting of studies and reports on migration, integration and asylum issues within the Austrian and European context;
  • Maintenance of a network of relevant stakeholders in the field of migration and asylum;
  • Maintenance of the project/office website(s) and other communication and visibility activities;
  • Organisation and preparation of events, workshops and conferences;
  • Support in the implementation of the activities of the National Contact Point Austria in the European Migration Network;
  • Maintenance of the IOM Library;
  • Support in general administration of the projects and related activities;
  • Support in updating and maintaining a media database on migration and asylum;
  • Assist In handling incoming requests for information and support regarding migration and asylum in Austria;
  • Participate/attend meetings if necessary and in close coordination with supervisor;
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. University degree in the field of social sciences, political sciences, law or related studies would be a distinct advantage;
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience;
  • Knowledge of the Austrian and EU migration and asylum policies and context;
  • Effectively applies knowledge of migration and integration issues within organizational context;
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office, in particular MS Excel); website content management and layout skills are an asset;
  • Ability to support in drafting clear and concise papers in German and English.
Languages:
  • Fluency in German and English.
