Baltasar Garzón International Foundation is a private non-profit association established in 2011 aiming at promoting human rights and Universal jurisdiction.
JOB DESCRIPTION
FIBGAR is looking for a young professional or law student, specializing in human rights, international criminal law and transitional justice to become a volunteer in the Legal Department at FIBGAR's headquarter in Madrid.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
The intern/volunteer will be responsible for:
· Giving support with the tasks related to the preparation, implementation and evaluation of human rights projects.
· Drafting legal documents and other publications for FIBGAR.
· Doing research on human rights, universal jurisdiction.
· Attending conferences and seminars of interest for FIBGAR and the volunteer/intern.
· Providing assistance in FIBGAR's current and specific project: developing new Principles on Universal Jurisdiction. The legal intern/volunteer will conduct intense research on universal jurisdiction, its application around the world, its interpretation across case law and teachings of the most qualified publicists. He or she will also assist with theorganization of regional working groups of experts and help with the English editing of the documents.
PROFILE
Required competencies:
· Bachelor of Laws (or about to finish)
· Excellent level of legal drafting.
· Good research skills.
· Expertise in international law and human rights.
· English level: native.
· Spanish level: medium.
· Teamwork.
· Desire to learn.
· Kindness and friendly with people.
· Discretion and professionalism.
Work experience:
· Previous work experience is not a requirement.
Desirable competencies:
· Master in international law / international criminal law / human rights.
· Knowledge of a third language.
· Other studies/diplomas/seminars/courses/workshops that demonstrate an interest in the field of human rights.
CONDITIONS:
· Full-time from Monday to Thursday.
· Compensation: unpaid.
· Collaboration certificate at the end of the volunteer/internship.
· Immediate Incorporation.
