IGLYO is a network of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) youth and student organisations. Established in 1984, IGLYO currently has over eighty members from forty countries across the pan European region. Run by young people for young people, it provides a range of training and capacity building opportunities, as well as representing the views and issues of LGBTQ youth to EU institutions and European networks.
IGLYO is calling for applications for the position of full time Capacity Building Officer in our Brussels office. Core Purpose

  • To design, deliver and evaluate a range of capacity building and training events to build the skills and knowledge of member organisations and youth activists;
  • To ensure LGBTQ youth and student issues are represented at all relevant European platforms and networks by working in partnership with the LGBTQ, equalities and youth sectors;
  • To co-ordinate the monitoring and evaluation of IGLYO's work to ensure it meets the needs of all stakeholders;
  • To support the Executive Co-ordinator to ensure the smooth running of the office on a day to day basis.

Capacity Building & Training

  • To work with member organisations and individual youth activists to build their knowledge and skills of LGBTQ issues, organisational development and advocacy work;
  • To design, deliver and evaluate a range of capacity building events, including conferences, study sessions and seminars;
  • To develop and deliver training and workshops on a range of topics including human rights, LGBT issues, and youth issues to diverse audiences;
  • To co-ordinate and facilitate the production of resources and toolkits in partnership with members and individuals;
  • To support participants in event preparatory teams, task forces and other opportunities to build their skills and ensure they achieve their goals.

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • To design and implement monitoring and evaluation systems to record participant learning, and the impact of events;
  • To monitor and analyse diversity across IGLYO events to propose recommendations for greater inclusion;
  • To co-ordinate and analyse the bi-annual Stakeholder Survey and bi-annual Partnership Survey;
  • To assist with the annual external evaluation of the organisation.

Advocacy & Policy

  • To work with participants to create and draft organisational position papers on a range of LGBTQ issues;
  • To work with a range of European partners and networks in the LGBTQ, equalities and youth sectors to ensure LGBTQ youth and student issues are represented;
  • To represent IGLYO at external meetings, conferences and events or to support Board members to attend.

Communications & Membership

  • To work with the board to write and disseminate external communications including media releases and statements;
  • To co-ordinate and update the members' network mailing list;
  • To regularly update IGLYO's website and social media with relevant content.

General

  • To support the Executive Co-ordinator to ensure the smooth running of the office on a day to day basis;
  • To prepare reports and other relevant documents for the Board, the Executive Co-ordinator, and funders as required;
  • To assist in the organisation of board meetings, the general assembly and other events as required;
  • To assist with the management of project budgets and prepare financial reports;
  • To undertake other duties which may be reasonable required from time to time.
