KIT (Royal Tropical Institute) in Amsterdam is a multifaceted center of expertise for international cooperation, healthcare and culture. The education team within the Health Unit focuses on postgraduate education in the areas of public and international health, including the NTC (Netherlands Tropical Course) as well as the Master's in Public Health and in International Health. Courses are organized both in Amsterdam and abroad with partner organizations. Advisory work with partner institutes, training needs assessments, curriculum development, planning and organization and quality assurance of training are all part of our work portfolio. Main responsibilities
Main responsibilities
- Develop, implement and evaluate post-graduate education programmes in International/ Public Health, in collaboration with partners abroad
- Coordinate training programmes at the institute
- Develop and teach selected sessions, guide students, mark exams
- Building and maintaining networks and relations with partners
- Pro-active acquisition and writing of proposals
- Carry out action research and advisory project work, document lessons learnt and publish results
Additional Information
The position will be about half-time working in educational activities, halftime working on international health projects. Appointment is initially one year and this may be extended.
We ask:
Relevant academic degree (minimal a Master's degree in public or international health, social sciences, Professional Health Education or equivalent)

- Minimal 3 years working experience in at least 2 low-middle income countries
- Minimal 3 years working experience in a teaching/training position or/in Curriculum Development
- Experience with e-learning or blended learning will be considered an advantage
- Preferably work experience in Sexual and reproductive health or in Universal Health Coverage, such as performance based financing
- Good organization, communication and presentation skills
- Team player and a results oriented attitude
- Ability to travel abroad regularly
- Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written English, communication skills in French are an added advantage
We offer
The ability to experience professional and personal growth within an exciting, dynamic and multi-disciplinary working environment with 30 passionate colleagues. A salary based on age, qualifications and experience of between EU3.428,- and EU 5.354,- gross per month for a 38 hour working week. In addition there is an 8% holiday allowance and admission to the KIT pension fund (ABP).
