Its cutting-edge expertise is based on an integrated production platform and world-leading metallurgy and R&D. Operations are divided into four product areas: Tube, Strip, Wire and Heating Technology - and Primary Products.
The Powder Technology department of SMT's R&D is responsible for process and product development in the powder metallurgy field. We work with the processes Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) and gas atomization, as well as product development for HIPed pressed products. The work is conducted in close cooperation with both marketing and production units of Sandvik Materials Technology. We are now looking for a driven and innovative research engineer who can contribute to the development of our business!
Key performance areas
Our department is responsible for the operation and development of a pilot plant that cover the entire value chain for HIPed products. As Senior R&D Engineer with us, your main responsibility will be process development of the gas atomization process. Your work is carried out in project form and includes theoretical studies, practical experiments at the laboratory or production levels and monitoring of development trends in the technological sector. An important part of the work is continual development of competencies, with the goal of transforming increased knowledge into concrete development activities.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a Ph. D. or equivalent qualification, in Materials Science, Chemistry or Physics. Experience with powder metallurgical processes or process metallurgy is highly advantageous. Good English skills, in both writing and speaking, are a prerequisite for the position.
