Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS) is one of the largest humanitarian organizations in Tanzania. Its mission is to be the leading humanitarian organization in Tanzania delivering excellent quality service of Preventing and Alleviating Human Suffering. The Society in collaboration with the American Red Cross (ARC) International Services Department (ISO) seeks to prevent and alleviate human suffering around the world by responding to disasters, building safer, more resilient communities, and educating future humanitarians. The Society is looking for a qualified person to fill the above position.
Reporting to American Red Cross Regional Representative for Eastern Africa, the Program Manager will provide managerial and technical assistance to TRCS program staff and partners in the design, planning, implementation, budget management, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of ARC-supported initiatives in Tanzania. S/he will also supervise and manage ARC in-country staff and resources. The position will be based at TRCS Headquarters, Dar es Salaam.
Specific duties and account-abilities:
Ensure completion of all planning, implementation and technical program deliverable in Tanzania, including work planning, implementation, and performance tracking and reporting.
Support project results and deliverable, ensuring timely and quality implementation of program activities. Coordinate with ARC Region team to complete required project monitoring and performance reviews, assessments and surveys for enhanced programming quality, sharing and learning.
Contribute to documentation, communication and sharing of Tanzania projects information, and promising practices.
Contribute to resource mobilization for enhanced and expanded programming in Tanzania.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in social sciences, public health, international and humanitarian development or related fields.
At least six years' experience in project design and management responsibilities, including needs assessments, proposal development, project implementation planning, and performance tracking and reporting.
Substantive programming knowledge and experience in Tanzania, including experience managing multiple concurrent community development and disaster response programming.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in Swahili and English essential.
Practical programming and knowledge in Community based Health & First Aid, Asset building or livelihoods, Disaster Risk management, Youth, Organization Governance and Leadership.
Key Competencies
Team leadership, teamwork, coordination and management.
Demonstrated experience implementing projects through partner organizations and collaboration with academia, private donors and corporates for program quality.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and achieve results through teams and collaboration.
Understanding of project financial budgeting and resource management.
Willingness to travel extensively in various Regions of Tanzania (up to 50%).
