The post is to be filled as of 1 December 2014 and is initially scheduled to end on 30 November 2015. The place of work is Kabul.
Objectives and responsibilities of the position
As Finance Manager in the regional office, you are responsible for all financial administrative processing in Afghanistan. The goal of the post is to provide support for the projects in the region in accordance with the framework specified as regards content, time schedules and finance.
Your most important duties are as follows:
- Monitoring and ensuring the proper planning of financial and material resources
- Assisting the Regional Director with carrying out his supervisory duties relating to programme administration
- Providing administrative and technical financial support to the Head of Project and partner organisations in drawing up the financial section of final financial reports in accordance with the appropriate guidelines
- Providing guidance and training for local and international finance experts
- Monitoring and ensuring the accurate and prompt drawing up of internal and external financial reports
Your qualifications will include:
- a university or polytechnic degree or completed commercial training, together with additional specialist knowledge, for example in the fields of accounting and controlling
- several years' project-related professional experience in the administration of co-financed projects for international (aid) organisations - preferably in the region
- coordination and organisational skills, even under high workload
- a good knowledge of both spoken and written English
