Responsibilities
The Head of Operations / Deputy Country Manager will work closely with the Country Manager in managing the day-to-day operations. The company currently has more than 100 sales agents and plans to expand our current business as well as launch new business models in the near future. The Deputy Country Manager will be part of the global network of operational managers and is expected to take the step to Country Manager in one of Milvik's markets.
Analytical and quick thinking in a fast-paced environment is essential. The Deputy Country Manager is an enthusiastic problem solver and does not hesitate to get involved at all levels of the operation. He/She will be take part both in the high level decision making and the daily operations of the company including administration and management of several distribution channels, stakeholder management, product development, and people management.
The right candidate is creative, passionate about sales and enjoys hard work and responsibility.

Specific Responsibilites
  • Carry out day-to-day activities and monitor performance of members of the local team (including a project manager and sales agents) and ensure work is progressing as planned
  • Execution of current plans and development with the Country Manager of new initiatives for the operation in the market
  • Responsible for meeting subscriber targets and cost efficiency initiatives for the local entity as a whole

  • Ensure all relevant processes relating to sales, reporting, recruitment and new projects are in place as well as clearly communicated, understood and executed upon
  • Ability to multi-task across several initiatives
  • Effectively and efficiently plan and prioritize all resources working across the operation based on company goals
  • Actively monitor risks to foresee potential issues and proactively identify solutions to address them in advance

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Master's Degree, Doctorate (PhD), any field.
  • Languages: fluent in English, Swahili a plus
  • 4 years minimum work experience within an implementation/operational role in the telecoms space, FMCG, consulting or equivalent experience in PMO in this sector
  • Experience within Africa, Latam and emerging Asia Pac or insurance industries is a plus but not a must.
  • Looking for someone eager to live and work in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (relocation expected) and enthusiastic about running and developing a growing operation further
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, support and understand different stakeholders and cultures, ideally in emerging markets
  • Strong attention to detail, with focus on stakeholder management, product management, product development and performance of distribution channels
  • Willingness to travel and spend time in the field
