Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Deputy Management Consular Officer (DMCO) the Common Service Assistant performs a variety of administrative support functions; responds to transportation, property and material service requests from clientele; coordinates, organizes and implements the purchasing of all materiel for the mission and its receipt, storage, distribution and disposal; plans, organizes and controls the maintenance, repair and replacement of materials; organizes, procures and distributes all office supplies; maintains contract and maintenance services for all office equipment; manages transportation requirements including fleet management; performs import and export custom clearances for material shipments; provides support for ongoing program activities; and performs other related duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Area of selection/Eligibility:
This position is open to individuals who are eligible to reside and work in Tanzania, who meet all of the essential requirements stated below, and whose applications are received by the closing date.

Education:
• College Diploma (preferably in Business Administration) and a minimum of two years of work experience providing general administrative support in an office environment.
Language:
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili (oral and written).

Experience:
• At least two years of *recent experience working in an office environment providing general administrative support.
*Recent is defined as within the last 5 years

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of general administrative practices and procedures
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Mail)
• Knowledge of the Government of Tanzania's processes and procedures as they relate to diplomatic and mission requirements

Operational Requirements:
•Normal work week 37.5 hours (7.5 hours per day):
Monday – Thursday 07:30 – 16:00
Friday - 07:30 – 13:00

•Ability and willingness to work overtime when required.

•Ability and willingness to travel occasionally.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:

• Previous experience working in a diplomatic mission, in a Canadian Government or Public Sector Environment or in an international environment
• Experience in building and maintaining a network of professional property and material contacts
• Fluency in Canada's other official language (French)
