Communication Manager Job at Serengeti Breweries Ltd Support the CR Director in shaping and implementing corporate and functional communications strategies and programs to build awareness, create understanding and motivate the employee body around the SBL purpose, vision, goals, values and leadership standards/capabilities. Develop communications platform and the application of the messaging & positioning in line with changing business requirements.
Accountabilities
  • Responsible for administration of all communications done across all the business units in SBL
  • Create templates and guidelines on key tone and messaging to ensure consistency
  • Writing/editing for newsletters, organisational updates and other internal programs / drives
  • Assisting in the development of communication plans for key projects/activities within the business
    Identifying and formulating new communication opportunities for the organisation
  • Manage communication channels
    Determine the appropriate content and route for information cascades, by providing advice and support
  • Research, write and gain approval for all publications within guidelines and agreed timetables
    Ensuring colleagues are fully briefed on communication issues
  • Overall responsibility for corporate communications and PR cycle plan and management of relevant agencies.
    Manage a variety of periodic and once-off communications projects. Identify key stakeholders, devise the appropriate messages for and means of communicating with them to deliver engaging and objective oriented communication materials; as well as evaluating and adapting these as required
  • Responsible for media training, media monitoring and external reputation measurement and external communications budget.
  • Monitor the external environment to identify reputation building opportunities as well as threats to corporate reputation and respond accordingly.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • Degree in Marketing / Communications / PR or related field
  • 3-5 years experience in planning and driving communication strategies through traditional as well as digital and multi-media means (webcasts, podcasts, video, mobile, etc.) preferably in a large brand led organisation, including development of intranet platforms (content & architecture)
  • Experience with analysing & interpreting information to developing strong key messages
  • Working knowledge of business operations and strong commercial awareness
  • Proven experience in building relationships with key partners throughout the organisation
  • Experience in managing vendors with technical, marketing or creative resources
  • Ability to prioritise and manage heavy work load and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment – strong project management skills to execute a variety of detailed tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills with thorough attention to detail
  • Strong web publishing and Microsoft office fluency
  • Team player with the ability to succeed in a collaborative work environment
  • Ability to partner with functional teams (soliciting, and conversely providing help as needed)
  • Demonstrable commitment to staying up-to-date with best practice in communications, including staying abreast of new digital technologies and their implications
