REGIONAL EDUCATION SPECIALIST - INTERNATIONAL RESCUE COMMITTEE
EQUIP-Tanzania is an ambitious four-year DFID-funded programme delivered by the Government of Tanzania and supported by the EQUIP-Tanzania Managing Agent (Cambridge Education, IRC and KPMG) to improve learning outcomes for children, particularly for girls, across the country.  EQUIP-Tanzania's various interventions are designed to improve learning outcomes for students by helping drive improvements in: training and performance of teachers; school leadership; planning and management of education at the regional, district and ward levels; community participation in education; and information and accountability.

EQUIP-Tanzania seeks to recruit qualified, energetic and committed candidates to fill the following position:
Position:                      Regional Education Specialist
Location:                     Dodoma, with possible travel to other Regions
Reporting to:               Regional Team Leader

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Support the Regional Team Leader and Technical Leader Specialists in facilitating, coordinating and supporting key stakeholders to improve planning, delivery and monitoring of education at community, school, district and regional levels.
2. Support the development of capacity building activities of community, school, district and regional education managers in the areas of teacher development, school leadership, planning and management, community participation and data management and use.
3. Coordinate and support the regional management and training of implementing partners
4. Contribute to the writing of various reports, articles and other forms of communication
5. Ensure technical information flow among Regional teams and partners
6. Support the regional assessments and baseline studies to prepare background information and data for design of the programme
7. Generate support for the programme and develop strategic alliances through leading effective advocacy efforts at all levels
8. Communicate success, lessons learnt, programme best practice and evidence of impact
9. Ensure a gender-positive and quality-oriented perspective is mainstreamed and gender sensitive language is used in all programme communications
Results:
Sustained commitment to change and expectations of the education system, supported from grass-roots stakeholders upwards, resulting from increased levels of awareness, engagement and ownership among stakeholders.
Knowledge, essential competencies, skills and qualifications:
- Degree in education, development or a related field
- Relevant experience in development, including education reform, teacher training, literacy, grants management, research and community mobilization
- Experience and proven ability to build and maintain relationships with government counterparts and other stakeholders
- Knowledge of communication tools used for development
- Proven ability to work across geographic and cultural boundaries
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English and Kiswahili
