Program Coordinator – Education Research
The Center for Global Development, an independent, nonpartisan research organization in Washington, DC seeks a Program Coordinator to support the work of our education research program. The Program Coordinator's role is to fulfill a broad array of research and support functions.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct background research and provide writing and editing support on working papers, blogs, policy briefs, external correspondence, and other products as needed.  The opportunity for additional research work may arise, depending on the skills and interests of the candidate selected.
  • Oversee and coordinate all aspects of CGD's education research program, in close coordination with the CGD senior fellow Lant Pritchett, research fellow Justin Sandefur, and visiting associate Amanda Beatty on the project. 
  • Organize meetings of CGD's education research working group, including contracts and travel for external working group members.
  • Liaise with funders and policy organizations with a stake in the research program, ensuring deliverables are delivered on time, partners are kept informed about the program's progress, etc.
  • Liaise with internal colleagues, including the CGD communications team, CGD institutional advancement team, and front office.
  • Provide administrative support and help organize and prioritize researchers' workflow.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a masters or equivalent in economics, political science, or related field.  Strong candidates with a bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of professional experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Proven ability to be a flexible team player and to manage successfully multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a good sense of humor.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Superb interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Poise, confidence, and comfort communicating effectively on CGD's behalf with a variety of external partners.
  • Study or work experience in a developing country or familiarity with issues related to education and development is a plus.
