Job Purpose
 
On the day control of the people resource and balance of workload to meet key event targets, quality standards and compliance.
 
Job Dimensions
 
The Fleet Satellite Duty Engineer operates as part of the satellite management team and is responsible for the delivery of the operational process in that satellite and allocates plans and loads work to the production teams.
 
The prime responsibility is to organise the staff to achieve the plan and maintain aircraft and SAP compliance safely.
 
The FSDE may be directing a shift including AMSs, LAEs, Technicians Mechanics and Maintenance Workers.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Ensures 'on the day' Satellite compliance with the Health and Safety policy and procedures in order to satisfy company and statutory requirements
  • Ensures and maintains aircraft compliance
  • Ensures SAP and airworthiness handover compliance
  • Liaise and manage key stakeholders and customers
  • Allocation of tasks as required by the maintenance plan
  • As a leader in a planning led organisation, develop and implement recovery plans when required
  • Promotes high quality standards, monitors trends, and enables lessons to be learned and coordinate continuous improvement, implementing permanent solutions
  • Ensure effective data capture for meaningful operational measures, identify trends and instigate remedial action
  • Ensures all satellite metrics are measured and performance targets achieved
  • Communication of aircraft in work status, coordinates requirements between Planning and Production departments
  • Support achievement of production targets and wider business objectives
  • Creates a workplace climate that develops and promotes best team working practices
  • Works in the best interest for BAs punctuality and enhance Engineering's reputation

The Individual

Skills
  • Calm and professional working against tight delivery targets
  • Good level of SAP knowledge
  • Maintains a good balance of Quality standards, Safety, productivity, delivery and Cost awareness and action
  • Clear communicator within the aircraft engineering environment
  • Key Stakeholder management
Essential Qualifications
  • Aircraft maintenance licence, engineering degree, or equivalent or recognised aircraft apprenticeship
  • Desirable to hold CRS on relevant Aircraft Types
Experience
  • Experience in engineering operational role
  • Aircraft maintenance background
  • Recognised engineering training (E.g. Apprenticeship)
  • Experience in BA Engineering planning and compliance processes or a Technical or certifying role
  • Able to progress large complex aircraft scheduled maintenance inputs
  • Project management skills desirable
Expertise
  • In order to meet customer and operational requirements, the Fleet Duty Engineer must be prepared to work in different satellites, and to work whichever shift patterns is required
  • The Fleet Duty Engineer operates in a team based environment. He/she will therefore need to work flexibly, covering other team tasks as appropriate
  • Ability to hold airside driving licence
