A: OVERVIEW Of THE PROJECT:
Epidemiology of Burkitt Lymphoma in East African Children and Minors (EMBLEM) sponsored by U.S. National Institute of Health- National Cancer Institute (NIH-Nell is based in Mwanza Region, working in the Northern Tanzania.

The EMBLEM Study is multi-country multiyear collaborative research study between US National Institutes of Health-National Cancer Institute (NIH-NCI), Bugando Medical Centre (BMC), Shirati Health and Educational Development Foundation (SHEDF), and the African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET). The scientific objectives of EMBLEM are to investigate the link between malaria, EBV, genetic factors and Burkitt lymphoma in East Africa. Both EBV and malaria are common in East Africa and 8L is the commonest childhood cancer. The study design in Tanzania calls for enrolling up to 494 patients with Burkitt lymphoma (called cases) from hospitals in northern Tanzania and twice the number of children without Burkitt lymphoma (called controls).

The Project wishes to invite applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill the under mentioned post.
B: POSITION: Study Coordinator (1 Post)
Duty station: Bugando Medical Centre (BMC) Mwanza Tanzania

C: PURPOSE Of THE POSITION:
To supervise research project implementation and monitor administration and budget.
To liaise with the study investigators to ensure that study objectives are achieved.
To coordinate research project activities

0: LINE MANAGEMENT:
Study Coordinator reports to local principal investigator at Bugando Medical Centre (BMC).

E: DESCRIPTION Of DUTIES
Working closely and report to the local Principal Investigators at Bugando Medical centre (BMC) I SHED foundation and the NIH-NCI. The successful candidate will:
Maintain accurate and current study operating procedures (SOP) required for study implementation in Tanzania. Ensure compliance with EMBLEM protocol and SOP's
Manage and supervise case and control work flow Provide technical leadership for the field team
Manage the EMBLEM Project Management Plan. This plan includes time management plan, cost management plan, quality management plan, and human resource management plan Maintain accurate and complete record of study activities and approvals
Lead and represent EMBLEM as delegated by PI

F: Qualifications:
A degree in Medicine with post-graduate training in epidemiology or relevant field of study or equivalent in Public Health.
Relevant experience:
Experience with collaborative research projects, research design and research project management.
Some publication record.
Good data management and analysis skills.
ResearchjWork experience in Tanzania; northern region preferred. Work experience in and knowledge of interdisciplinary research settings.
Excellent writing skills in English.
Note: Individuals with or interested in developing career in cancer research will find the project a good fit.
G: Length of experience:
Long experience is preferable, but highly motivated young researchers with demonstrable promise will be considered and, if hired, to help achieve study goals. Experience working with population-based studies will be an advantage.
H: Key skills:
Excellent problem solving skills
Effective oral, written, and verbal communication and interpersonal skills required.
I: Performance output
Successful enrolh.ent of cases and controls as stipulated in the study protocol
Safe custody of study data and samples and safe transfer to NIH- NCI
Timely, informative quarterly and annual study reports
J: Duration of Employment contract:
The incumbent will hold the position for one {ll year renewable contract based on performance after a proven probation period Of Three (3) Months.
K: Remuneration:
