Key Expert 2: Category III/Democracy Expert

AAM Management Information Consulting Ltd (Hungary) is looking for 2 experts for the EU funded project "Support to the establishment of Democracy Profile and Democracy Action Plan", location of assignment: Tanzania.

The project is currently at the bidding phase and we are looking for a team of experts (2 Key Experts) who would be interested in the implementation and possesses all qualifications and skills required for the positions. The intended starting date is 1st September 2014., the period of implementation of the contract will be seven months.

The global objective of the Democracy Profile and Democracy Action Plan is to increase coherence to achieve better impact of EU's work in the field of democracy. A first pilot was implemented in 9 countries in years 2011-2013. During the first pilot, the commitments from the Council Conclusions were included in the EU Strategic Framework and Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy, adopted by FAC in June 2012. The decision to launch a second-generation of pilots for democracy support is a commitment under chapter III.6.b of the Action Plan. Tanzania is one of the countries selected for the second-generation pilots.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

· Availability to work in Tanzania during the implementation period

Qualifications and skills:

· Hold an advanced degree in political science, economics, social sciences or equivalent discipline related to democratization processes;

· Proficient English essential, with demonstrated ability to deliver high quality written and oral work.

· Knowledge of Kiswahili.

General professional experience:

· At least 3 years of relevant professional experience on democratization processes;

Specific professional experience:

· Relevant experience on research on political systems and democratic institutions in Tanzania;

· Experience designing and organizing stakeholders consultations and analysis of the results thereof;

· Ability to work independently with strong analytical and assessment skills.
