Financial Controller



Financial Controller The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is an international development agency working in partnership with governmental institutions, NGOs, as well as with other national and international agencies. The goal of SDC is sustainable poverty reduction, focusing its programme support on health, employment & income as well as on good governance.

In order to strengthen our project controlling team we are currently looking for a

Financial Controller

Job Description / Responsibility

Financial Management
 - Maintenance of project- and contract data and payment plans in the ERP systems
 - Review and monitor partner agreements for terms and conditions to be in line with the grant proposals
 - Examine and process disbursement orders to partners in coordination with programme managers
 - Supervise advances to partners and verify project expenses

Controlling/Monitoring
 - Carry out financial risk assessments and field audits of projects and of partners
 - Support programme managers in preparing contracts, project documents and budget proposals
 - Review and analyze budget proposals, operational- and financial reports of partners and projects
 - Coach/train program officers and partners in financial management and monitoring their projects
 - Assist the expatriate Director Development Cooperation, Head of Finance and domain heads in managing financial risks, financial planning and control of the SDC activities in Tanzania

Requirements

Education
 - Tanzanian, Age 35+
 - B.Com / M.Com / MBA
 - CPA/ ACCA
 - Excellent command of written and spoken English/Kiswahili

Experience
 - Min. 7 years professional experience with strong financial background, thereof 2 years with a major audit firm
 - Min. 2 years work experience in controlling, preferably in project controlling
-  Work experience in the development sector/international non-profit organization would be an advantage

Other skills
 - Excellent IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
 - Strong analytical and negotiation skills
 - Able to work independently and proactively with strong personal and social competences
 - Capable to organize and conduct trainings for finance- and program staff of partner organizations  
 - Able to meet deadlines while remaining organized and accurate
