This role is part of our Sustainable Energy Policy team, which leads on Ofgem's approach to environmental and long-term sustainability issues, ensuring this agenda is prioritised in all aspects of the energy marketplace, and promoted and supported by Ofgem policies. The team also works closely with the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and other government departments in relation to new and emerging government legislation that affects the energy market. You'll support policy development and evaluation, undertaking thorough and accurate evidence and research on the potential or actual impact on the market. This may include reviewing issues such as the effectiveness of renewable energy subsidies or assessing the influence of new entrants or new business models in the marketplace. You'll help ensure that awareness of sustainability issues remains to the fore of all our policy work and help develop understanding of the environmental agenda within Ofgem and with other stakeholders.
Essential qualifications:
- A degree in economics, or equivalent qualification/expertise
Essential skills and experience:
- Proven knowledge of sustainable development and/or environmental issues, with experience of the energy sector and/or public or regulatory policy related to the energy sector.
- Demonstrable expertise in applying economic analysis to policy development using a broad range of techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, including an ability to explain technical concepts to others clearly, draft complex documents and present effectively.
- Experience of managing and working effectively with diverse sets of stakeholders.
- Proven experience of working across organisations and influencing project outcomes.
- Strong project management skills, to support the efficient delivery of project outcomes.
