JOB PURPOSE
- Overseeing that the day-to-day quality control of regulatory and internal control requirements is maintained. In addition, drive and implement an effective risk management framework, and promote a strong risk management.
- Partnering with the Branches and Operations department on operational risk matters to ensure business growth is balanced with risk management and control.
- Ensuring proper functioning of day-to-day controls, periodic monitoring of activities, timely identification and reporting of significant risks and losses and effectiveness of risk mitigation actions.

Outputs:
- Perform analysis on operational risks and / or losses reported, to understand trends and recommend remedial actions.
- Preparing the Operational Risk profile and other relevant reports for the Operational Risk Meetings and ensure accuracy and completion of data.
-  Undertake Operational Risk Assurance review and should ensure timely and accurate submission of operational risk assurance Reports.
- Work as part of a team to drive and support the identification and management of operational risks on a daily basis and act as a source of reference in facilitating and promoting the understanding of Operational Risk requirements.
- Design and implement quality control measures and monitoring plans for operational risk management. Ensure
that controls are effective for compliance monitoring and risk management.
- Ensure adherence to the risk management framework in identifying, controlling, monitoring and reporting of risk.
- Ensure sufficient actions are undertaken to mitigate, reduce or contain the identified operational risks. Undertake and / or coordinate periodic monitoring (self assessment) activities and escalation of issues to the Senior Manager Risk.
- Ensure the risks associated with new and changed products, services and business strategy are sufficiently assessed and mitigated.
- Support implementation of Operational Risk framework and initiatives.
- Proactively communicate with the Senior Manager Risk, Zonal Managers and Zonal Operational Risk Officers on operational risk issues. Escalate significant events to Senior Manager Risk as appropriate.
- Ensure that sufficient actions are undertaken to resolve all control weaknesses highlighted through the various Operational Risks reviews and audit processes.
- Should Fully Support Senior Manager Risk, objectives in order to promote the business Efficacy.
- Ensuring Proper Monitoring/Timely Closure of Operational Risk Issues and implementation of Snap checks at Branches.
- Proper identification of gaps at assessed Departments/ designated assignment(s)
- Remain alert to the risk of Money laundering and assist in the effort in combating it by adhering to the key principles in relation to: 'Identifying your customer, knowing your customer, reporting suspicions, safeguarding records and not disclosing suspicions to customers'.

- Assist branches to improve Audit results and make follow up for timely closure of findings
- Work together with branches, zone offices, retail support, corporate support services and Operations department to deliver the exceptional performance on controls.
- Any other assignment that Operational Risk Manager deems fit.
TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Competencies:
- Good understanding and appreciation of Operational Risk.
- Good knowledge of the controls and procedures on Branch operations & Good knowledge of operational procedures and operating systems.
- High degree of communication and inter-personal skills.
- Good knowledge of the Bank's products.
- Time management and organisation skills & must have 'attention to details' skills.
- Good skills on Performance Management and effective risk management and be able to promote strong risk management culture & Coaching skills
Essential
- Holder of University Degree
-Banking Experience of more than 2 years preferably in Risk management or Audit
- good communication skills & Full understanding of Core Banking System
Preferred
- Standard Computer skills
- Experience in loan department and/or internal audit
