Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) is a non-profit research and training institute whose mission is to develop and sustain a district-based health research and source and resource centre capable of generating new knowledge and relevant information for public health policy and actions. IHI is among the leading health research institutes in Africa. The institute has a long-standing collaboration with local and international partners apart from advancing health research and contributing national and international development.
1. Title: Research Officer (Medical Doctor) 
IHI seeks to recruit a Research Scientist (Medical Doctor) to work with EQUIP Project which is an EU funded project implemented by Ifakara Health Institute in collaboration with a team of partners at Karolinska Institute-Sweden, LSHTM-UK, Eva Plan-Germany and Makerere University -Uganda. The position also offers several opportunities for capacity building in collaboration with its partners to pursue MSc and PhD degrees.

POSITION: RESEARCH OFFICER (MEDICAL DOCTOR)
REPORTS TO: EQUIP Project Coordinator, QM Adviser and Country PI
LOCATION: TANDAHIMBA AND MTWARA
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate, implement and document quality management activities for EQUIP Project in Tandahimba District (http://www.equip-project.eu/)
- Participate within the EQUIP team in intervention development and adaptation
- Coordinate and implement QM activities at health facilities and district level in close cooperation with the CHMT
- Participate in tool development and training of medical and nursing staff for EQUIP quality management
- Guide community QM and work closely with community QM coordinators
- Contribute to QM data collection, management, analysis and reporting
- Coordinate and participate in project meetings
- Participate in collection of contextual factors and its documentation where necessary
- Participate in writing project reports
- Participate in research activities assigned by immediate leader and or project leader.
- Support project management as need arises and when assigned by project leader
- Initiate writing and contribute to papers for publication in peer reviewed academic journals and present results at conferences as opportunities arise
- Contribute to scientific life of IHI

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Medicine
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience preferable in the public sector at district level
- Some experience in research will be appreciated
