MAENDELEO FUND MONITORING AND EVALUATION INTERN

Acacia Mining seeks to employ a Maendeleo Fund Monitoring and Evaluation Intern based at our Dar es Salaam Office. This role reports to the Chief CSR and Environmental Advisor and the role holder will be accountable to help us assess the impact of our work on local communities. This will entail establishing a current baseline but will also try to build a retrospective baseline to show how key developmental indicators have changed over the life of Acacia's mines.

This is a three (3) month fixed term contract role.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• To create a historic record of key development indicators at Acacia's three mine sites and exploration locations.
• To help develop a Results Framework and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Plan.
• To monitor the success of the strategy at the Goal and Outcome level but also to track activities and outputs against operational plans.
• Conduct research into 'best practice' monitoring and evaluation systems.
• Recommend options for how data is collected, by whom and how it is stored for maximum ease of use.
• Explore external best practice on how data might be presented to key audiences.
• Assist with ensuring that the Maendeleo Fund adopts an open and inclusive learning culture that ensures that lessons and experiences inform future practice and improve impact.
• To monitor the operational effectiveness of the programme to ensure that we are on track to deliver the committed outcomes.
• To compile a written report highlighting best practice, theory and listing baselines (for the 3 existing mines and exploration sites) against key outcome indicators identified.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Qualification Requirements:

• Degree in Statistics, Impact Assessment or Development, or Operational Research or any other relevant subjects.
• A Masters Degree in a relevant subject will be highly advantageous.

Experience Requirements:

• Previous experience with evidence based research to inform policy and practice.
• Experience with developing and working within Results Frameworks / Logical Frameworks / Theory of Change;
• Experience with enterprise based development, Social Investment and Community Development.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS SPECIALIST

Acacia Mining seeks to employ an experienced Compensation and Benefits Specialist based at our Dar es Salaam Office. This role reports to the Chief Compensation and Benefits Advisor and the role holder will be accountable to implement systems that deliver industry best practice Compensation and Benefits Management to ensure long-term and short-term alignment of the financial interests of ACACIA team members with ACACIA strategic plans.

This role is based in Dar es Salaam with standard office hours, however, the incumbent will be required to occasionally travel to the different mining operations and offices within Acacia Mining.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Assist the Chief Compensation and Benefits Advisor with the annual Compensation & Benefits program for Acacia Mining.
• Proactively monitor and track trends in the market related to Compensation and Benefits.
• Assist the Chief Compensation and Benefits Advisor to introduce and implement new benefits as part of the Company's retention scheme.
• Coordinate and ensure compliance with the Acacia Mining remuneration methodology processes across the different operations and offices.
• Participate and coordinate salary surveys. Analyze salary survey findings and assist the Chief Compensation and Benefits Advisor in revising the salary scales in line with market salary data.
• Evaluate, maintain and interpret Conditions of Employment to Acacia personnel.
• Assist the Chief Compensation and Benefits Advisor with the calibration process of new roles within Acacia Mining.
• Compile, compare and analyze salaries and conditions of employment information across different operations.
• Maintain and ensure that Acacia Mining's Compensation & Benefits Policies are updated and available.
• Assist the Chief Compensation and Benefits Advisor to ensure that Compensation and Benefits practices are aligned with legislative requirements within the different countries of operation.
• Managing the Group Life Assurance and Medical Insurance processes to ensure to compliance
• Ad hoc administration duties.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Qualification Requirements:

• Relevant tertiary qualification.
• Advanced Excel skills are desired.

Experience Requirements:

• At least 5 years' experience in a Compensation and Benefits role is essential.
• Experience in the mining industry will be advantageous.
• Sound Knowledge of remuneration practices.

AUTO ELECTRICIAN (2 VACANCIES)

Acacia Mining seeks to employ two (2) Auto Electricians based at North Mara Mine in Tanzania. These roles report to the First Line Leader Light Vehicle and the role holders will be accountable to ensure that all Light Duty Mobile Equipment is maintained according to international standards and maintenance procedures in a safe and cost effective manner.

These are permanent roles, with the work roster being six weeks on and three weeks off.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Ensure safe work practices by attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies of Acacia, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and repair on mobile equipment, the fixed pumping station, including air conditioning units on the mobile equipment.
• Ensure that maintenance practices result in improved vehicle /machine availability.
• Adjust engine control systems and timing to make sure that vehicles are running at peak performance.
• Update all maintenance records on a daily basis.
• Determine malfunction of electrical systems by conducting visual inspection of the vehicle / equipment and troubleshooting / fault finding.
• Ensure that all work orders are correctly documented and returned to the First Line Leader.
• Rewinding motors and electronic wirings.
• Test, recondition, and replace faulty alternators, generators, and starter motors.
• Install electrical equipment such as gauges, lighting, alternators, and starter motors in cars, and install electrically operated accessories as required.
• Repair or replace defective wiring in ignitions, lighting, air?conditioning, and safety control systems.
• Troubleshooting direct injection and common rail vehicle use.
• Assist with coaching team members and apprentices that are less experienced in terms of skills and technical knowledge.
• Ensure that daily reports, work orders etc. are completed on time and accurately.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Qualification Requirements:

• Trade Test Grade one or level three in Auto Electrical

Experience Requirements:

• 3-5 years' experience in Light Duty Mobile Equipment.
• Previous experience in a mining environment.
• Experience with general mining equipment, generators and lighting plants.
• Valid Tanzanian Driver's Licence

Skills / Knowledge Requirements:

• Familiar with test instruments and able to read circuit diagrams to find electrical faults.
• Effective communicating skills, both written and verbal.
• Able to work under pressure.
• Able to use electronic tester tools for electronic vehicles and trucks.
• High critical fault identification and fault finding skills.
• Computer literate.
• Specialist skills in auto electrical air conditioning.
• Skilled in rewinding motors and electronic wirings.
• Knowledge of basic Diesel Mechanics on vehicles.
• Experience with equipment selection and determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Good practical problem-solving skills.
• To work methodically, paying close attention to detail.
• To work well in a team and independently.
