In September 2015, the UN Secretary General launched the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This new, Post-2015 development agenda will shape poverty and inequality dynamics for the next 15 years at least. We recognise the importance of this moment and have been working with key stakeholders across the global youth sector to create the space for young people to actively engage as partners and leaders in the post-2015 process.
The 'Kijana Wajibika' project (dubbed Big Idea) is a new programme on youth-led accountability for the Sustainable Development Goals led by Restless Development. The hypothesis behind 'Kijana Wajibika' is simple: empower young people with knowledge, skills and networks, connect them to meaningful opportunities to participate, support them to curate official data and generate their own and they will become leaders in exercising accountability for the Post-2015 framework.
