SENIOR WRITER (X3) POSITION



The Tanzania Standard (Newspapers) Limited is a limited liability company owned by the Government of the United.
Republic of Tanzania. The company publishes Tanzania's leading newspapers - Daily News, Sunday News,
HabariLeo, HabariLeo Jumapili and SpotiLeo. •
The company wishes to recruit suitably qualified Sub-Editors and Senior Writers for its English publications
Qualifications:
Holder of BA in Mass communication, Joumalism/ or its equivalent from a recognized Institution. Must have at least five
(5) years relevant work experience. S/he must be computer literate.
Duties and Responsibilities
1) Writing stories, features and commentaries
2) Developing and doing coverage on assigned beats
3) Reporting, researching, and writing forward-looking daily news stories and features . v~
4) Breaking news and delivering high-impact news and analytical stories for the daily and weekend papers
5) Checking junior writers' stories to ensure they have all relevant facts including background Information
6) Mentoring junior writers
7) Developing and maintaining high-level sources
8) Proposing, developing and executing exclusive story ideas
9) Proposing and helping develop graphics, data analysis, and other visual story elements.
10) Remaining current. on issues and developments related toassigned beats

11) Serving as a resource and backup for others covering related beats
12) Developing individual objectives/targets and performance standards as part of the individual performance
agreement in consultation with the head of section
13) Performing any other duties as may be assigned by your superior

Remuneration
