Finance and Commercial Manager , Business Connexion SA (Pty) Ltd - Tanzania


Purpose
Responsible for all financial and commercial operations in compliance with goals, policies and objectives as established by in-country Executive as aligned with Group. Supporting the in-country ME in the commercial activities of the subsidiary. 

Key Relationships / Stakeholder relationships
  • In-country MD, in-country Board, in-country EXCO, responsible Group EXCO member, Shareholders, Statutory Auditors, Key Clients and Suppliers, Financial Institutions, Group Audit Executive.
Accountabilities

Strategic
  • Participate in development of overall country strategy in line with BCX's overall business strategy and values in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Establish in country business plans and budgets to meet agreed strategic objectives
  • Ensure the adherence of commercial goals and support strategy implementation

Financial
  • Manage financial functions and preparation of reports and statistics detailing financial results
  • Present for approval an annual budget, financial plans, business plans, feasibility studies, investment memoranda and all other financial and business documents
  • Monitor financial performance through flow of funds, adherence to budget, expenditures, income, cost of sales and other budgetary items
  • Maintain the organisation's accounting books reflecting all financial activities in compliance with legislation and regular accounting standards
  • Comply with relevant reporting, accounting and audit requirements imposed by regulatory bodies and provide consultative support to business areas
Operational
  • Ensure the ongoing analysis and review of financial position, capital allocation and associated corrective action
  • Ensure aherence to technical and legistlative requirements, including corporate governance and retention of records
  • Facilitate a company secretarial service to effectively support Group company secretariate
  • Define and implement financial policies and procedures according to best practice financial management in order to minimise risk and safeguard the company's assets and reputation
  • Align and implement policies and procedures aligned with Group
  • Support sales function in the provision of complete costing templates and margin review
  • Ensure that effective risk management controls are implemented and adhered to in line with applicable legislation
  • Align with Group internal audit requirements and address any deficiencies in internal controls
  • Ensure that the company continuously complies with the Health and Safety regulations
  • Ensure complaince with Group Legal services framework and Group limits of authority
Customer
  • Promote and facilitate optimum engagement within the subsidiary
  • Partner with Group finance to deliver country specific financial and commercial support to the in-country leadership team
  • Facilitate and enhance strategic customer and vendor relationships

People
  • Establish organisational structure and delegate authority to empower subordinates
  • Cultivate a culture of team work through collaboration, interaction and regular communication with relevant stakeholders within BCX
  • Leading the BCX way: Motivate and coach the team to deliver against performance targets, develop and enhance team effectiveness and direct reports', manage and maintain the attraction and retention of talent, and manage and empower people to execute learning and development initiatives

Desired Skills and Experience

Minimum Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Technical: Expert or professional that has guided, developed and influenced practice in the Finance and Commercial area,  with a minimum experience of over 10 years. Requires detailed knowledge of theories and practices related to Finance and Commercial and substantial knowledge of other functions.
  • Leadership: Middle management role  that managed 1 - 10 specialists or professioanals for between 6 to 8 years Made a strategic contribution by agreeing and setting goals for operating units, supplying and co-ordinating resources for established practices and systems,as well as designing and developing new systems.
  • Experience in decision-making that directly impacted multiple Operations within the same business entity.Operational: Experience within one main sector (Finance).
  • Managed small projects. 
  • Had responsibility for budgets at a departmental level.
  • Has 2+ years of cross cultural experience.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Influenced / agreed solutions with multiple smaller groups of internal and external stakeholders on senior management level.
