PROGRAM COORDINATOR

General Job Description

Under the directorate of Social  Services of NED-ELCT, the  Gender and Children Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all key aspects and issues concerning gender and children,  and other administrative tasks. The coordinator works to develop, plan and implement  activities in the area covered by NED-ELCT.

Duties and Responsibilities

Planning, coordinating, implementing and managing all activities in the department.
Planning and implementation of trainings for leaders from the congregations.
Building up and keeping contacts with congregations on issues pertaining gender and children awareness, including church district level.
Reporting to the director for social Services; should the  need arise discuss with the DSS on matters concerning the department.
Planning, managing and monitoring the departmental budget.
Together with the DSS develop concepts for the department of gender and children.

In collaboration with the NED-DSS,  organize activities that will assist in the progress and development of women, men and children in NED.
Provide community awareness and networking with other potential stakeholders such as the ELCT/Director for Women and Children, government and NGOs on gender issues.

Qualifications and Skills

Experience in coordinating and managing gender and children activities
Able to work with families i.e. women, men and children
Able to travel to rural communities in and out of Lushoto district
Able to network with various stakeholders
Degree (BA/MA) in social work, community development, gender and development or any other related field
Fluent in spoken and written both English and Swahili languages
