Camp Manager

5* Tented Camp offering guests a truly 'Out of Africa' experience is currently looking for a Camp Manager to take over the running of our luxury tented camps in Northern Tanzania

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

·         Must have filled a Camp/Lodge Manager position previously preferably within Africa
Experience working with high end clientele is essential
Strong attention to detail

·         A high degree of flexibility and problem-solving acumen is required as operating isolated camps

·         A strong flair for practical and mechanical problem-solving would be preferred.

·         Demonstrated ability to act on attention to detail and a proven ability to motivate others to have the same commitment to quality and detail orientation.

·         Guest centric Professional & presentable with an outgoing and warm personality.

·         Thorough working knowledge of Cost Control systems and mechanisms.

·         The ability to speak and write English and also understanding of Swahili is helpful

·         It's an added bonus to have a strong guiding background and be passionate about the bush.

·         Please note that you will not be guiding.

 

What are the key responsibilities of the position?

HOSPITALITY

·         Meet and welcoming guests to your camp and help them to settle in comfortably.

·         Providing guests with reliable and knowledgeable information about the camp and the surrounding facilities.

·          Dealing with all requests with a genuine degree of willingness to assist no matter how difficult or impractical the request.

PERSONNEL

·         Ensuring harmony in the workplace by maintaining consistent practices when dealing with staff issues.

·          Maintaining staff records efficiently.

·          Ensuring rosters for work, leave etc. are fairly exercised.

·          Maintaining disciplinary and grievance procedures fairly and accordance to company and labour requirements.

·          Dealing staff issues fairly and without prejudice.

·          On-going training within the various departments.

·          Supervision of Heads of Department,supervisors and other management.

CAMP ADMINISTRATION

·          Monthly management reports

·          Checking invoices and allocating to relevant budgets

·         Coordination of Game Packages and Flights

FOOD & BEVERAGE

·         Weekly orders and stock control

·         Maintain standards of food production and service

·         Train kitchen and restaurant staff

·         Control F&B costs

 

MAINTENANCE

·         Basic plumbing and electrical skills are necessary as being in remote locations you have to be able to fix a problem then and there as outside help can be days away

·         Basic car mechanics as you will be responsible for the camp vehicle

·         To ensure that all the company assets are looked after according to company SOPs

 

 

 

Renumeration package will all depend on experience and ideal for an East African resident but we may consider non East Africans. Please send your wage expectation with your application and ONLY apply if you match the above criteria
