PROGRAMME ACCOUNTANT



PROGRAMME ACCOUNTANT KINNAPA Development Programme is a Community Based non-profit making organization.  It was set up in the early 1990s by six villages to deal with land encroachment issues facing pastoralists and peasants in the district of Kiteto.  It was officially registered on 31st January 1992. The Head Office is located in Partimbo village, 1km from Kibaya Town which is the Headquarters of Kiteto district. We currently engage in poverty eradication through implementing community development projects, public accountability and gender participation. Our operational area is Tanzania Mainland but the priority area is Kiteto and Simanjiro districts.

Currently, the organization works with partners from in and outside Tanzania to implement a number of projects in and outside Kiteto and Simanjiro Districts. With this in mind, KINNAPA ought to have a competent and qualified accountant to oversee the work of the organization in relation to financial management and internal controls. In view of the above, Professionals are required in order to help implement projects and enable the organization and partners meet the desired objectives.

The organization therefore invites suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill the vacancy stated hereunder;

2. Job title: PROGRAMME ACCOUNTANT

Reporting to: KINNAPA Programme Coordinator

3. Purpose of the advert
To obtain qualified personnel that will help to oversee KINNAPA budgeting and expenditure processes.

4. Key responsibilities
The Incumbent should be a credible accountant experienced in working with donors or government agencies. Specific responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Overall in-charge of financial activities at a day to day basis.
- Ensures staff observance to the organization's financial regulations.
- Prepares appropriate periodic and annual financial accounts and reports for the Management, Programme Coordinator and stakeholders.
- Implementer and interpreter of accounting and financial regulations of the Organization, Government, NBAA and Bank accounts.
- Advises the organization of appropriate internal control systems.
- Assist in establishment and supervision of financial systems for KINNAPA/Community projects initiated by KINNAPA organization.
- Pay staff salaries, taxes and other statutory contributions.
- Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by his/her superiors,

5. Desirable Qualifications
- Should be a Degree Holder in Accounting from any of the recognized institutions.
- Masters' Degree Holder or CPA Holder will have an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Accounting Software such as QuickBooks is a MUST.

Experience, skills and ability
- 2 years of experience working with donor funded projects or government institutions,
- Should be a computer literate,
- Excellent in communication skills, English and Kiswahili, including financial report writing,
