MEDICAL RECORD TECHNICIAN II – (1 POST) The Ocean Road Cancer Institute (ORCI) was established by the Act of parliament No. 2 of 1996. The Institute is a semi-autonomous organization which operates at "arm's length" under the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. The Institute has various roles which all stem on the main role of controlling cancer in Tanzania. The Institute is currently looking for qualified Tanzania citizens to fill the following vacancies:

3. JOB TITLE: MEDICAL RECORD TECHNICIAN II – (1 POST)
REPORTS TO: RECORD MANAGER
a) DUTIES
i. Collecting, tabulating, analyzing interpreting diseases and patient statistics, and circulating them to relevant end users of the Institute
ii. Receiving and register patients and direct them on where to go for attention.
iii. Giving appointments to patients
iv. Issuing files and identification cards to patients
v. Receiving files or identification and collecting files from the ward
vi. Updating information in admissions, discharges and deaths
vii. Creating and maintaining index in alphabetical order and tracing missing files
viii. Assisting in designing and maintain a system for numbering, filing, storage and retrival of patients' file and other documents
ix. Collecting and preparing daily and monthly statistical returns
x. Maintaining procedures for tracing misfield and lost case-notes and other duties related to his/her work superior

b) REQUIRED QUALIFICATION
Holder of an Ordinary Secondary School Certificate and Medical Records Certificate or
its equivalent from a recognized institution

GENERAL CONDITIONS
1. All applicants must be Citizens of Tanzania and not above 45 years old
2. Applicants must send their handwritten application letter attached with current Curriculum Vitae (CV) with three referees, certified copies of academic certificates, Birth Certificate and two recent Passport size picture
3. Testimonials, Partial transcript, and results slip will not be accepted
4. Applicants who have foreign Certificate should certify the same to the relevant authority before submitting their applications
5. Presentation of forged Certificates and other in formations in the CV shall call for legal action
6. Applicants who are currently employed in the public Service should route their applications to their current employers
7. Applicants who have/were retired from the Public Service for whatever reason should not apply
8. Applications with special needs/case (disability) are required to indicate
9. Only shortlisted candidates will be informed the date for interview;
10. Applications should be made on the strength of the requirements provided in the advertisement
11. The applications should reach the office of the undersigned not later than 14 days from the first appearance date of this advertisement
