Jobs at Ocean Road Cancer Institute - Jan 2015 The Ocean Road Cancer Institute (ORCI) was established by the Act of parliament No. 2 of 1996. The Institute is a semi-autonomous organization which operates at "arm's length" under the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. The Institute has various roles which all stem on the main role of controlling cancer in Tanzania. The Institute is currently looking for qualified Tanzania citizens to fill the following vacancies:

1. JOB TITLE: SENIOR PHARMACIST OFFICER (1 post)
REPORTS TO: PHARMACY MANAGER

a) DUTIES
i) Supervise preparation of pharmaceuticals (compounding for use in medical and nursing care
ii) Supervise provision medicine information to patients and health care staff
iii) Supervise provision of ward Pharmacy services
iv) Monitor side effects of medicine and report accordingly
v) Attend and participate in morning clinical sessions, CMEs and journal clubs
vi) Make regular reconciliation of drugs dispensed against issued
vii) Sort out and list drugs expiring within three months for attention of supervisor
viii) Conduct research in the field and make publications
ix) Prepare periodic reports regarding the services offered in his/her area of specialization
x) Supervise junior pharmacist, pharmacist technicians and inters in their pharmaceutical duties at the institute
xi) Perform any other duties as shall be assigned by his/her superior

b) REQUIRED QUALIFICATION
Holder of Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy or its equivalent from any recognised Institution who has completed internship and registered with the Pharmacy Council. He/She must have five years working experience in related field


GENERAL CONDITIONS

3. JOB TITLE: MEDICAL RECORD TECHNICIAN II – (1 POST)
REPORTS TO: RECORD MANAGER
a) DUTIES
i. Collecting, tabulating, analyzing interpreting diseases and patient statistics, and circulating them to relevant end users of the Institute
ii. Receiving and register patients and direct them on where to go for attention.
iii. Giving appointments to patients
iv. Issuing files and identification cards to patients
v. Receiving files or identification and collecting files from the ward
vi. Updating information in admissions, discharges and deaths
vii. Creating and maintaining index in alphabetical order and tracing missing files
viii. Assisting in designing and maintain a system for numbering, filing, storage and retrival of patients' file and other documents
ix. Collecting and preparing daily and monthly statistical returns
x. Maintaining procedures for tracing misfield and lost case-notes and other duties related to his/her work superior

Holder of an Ordinary Secondary School Certificate and Medical Records Certificate or

REPORTS TO: NURSING MANAGER

a) DUTIES
i) General cleaning of the officers, Kitchen, Wards and other patient treatments areas
ii) Disposal of medical and other wastes
iii) Cleaning of equipment and accessories used in patient diagnosis and treatment
iv) Performs duties diagnosis and treatment
v) Performs duties in the Kitchen
vi) Carry out movement of medical files and others
vii) General cleanliness of environment and offices
viii) Perform other duties as shall be assigned by Superiors

b) REQUIRED QUALIFICATION
Holder of Certificate in Secondary Education with at least 6 month certificate course in Hospital Cleaning/infections protection, hygiene, health safety issues and Waste Management from any recognized Institution
