Reporting to: Consultancy Operation Manager
Duty Station: Dar Es Salaam
Responsibilities
• Responsible for all infrastructure planning and engineering matters including design of programmes, projects, research and consultancy work
• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
• Plan and design transportation or hydraulic systems and structures, following construction and government standards, using design software and drawing tools
• Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, and material stress factors to determine design specifications.
• Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.
• Direct construction, operations, and maintenance activities at project site.
• Direct or participate in surveying to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction.
• Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
• Prepare or present public reports, such as bid proposals, deeds, environmental impact statements, and property and right-of-way descriptions.
• Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications and structural repairs to industrial and managerial personnel.
• Conduct studies of traffic patterns or environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess the potential impact of projects.
• Perform monitoring and evaluation and prepare monthly report of all infrastructure planning and engineering matters including design of programmes, projects, research and consultancy work
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Consultancy Operations Manager
Competencies
Engineering and Technology; Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
Design; Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Mathematics ; Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
Building and Construction; Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.
Education
Bachelor degree in engineering or housing and infrastructure planning related profession. Professional registration is an added advantage.
Working Experiences
A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in urban planning, infrastructure planning, engineering management, and related fields. Experience in Engineering projects (roads, water, sewerage, cyber and electricity) is desirable. Knowledge of CityPlan areas of professional activities is desired
Language
English and Swahili are the working language of CityPlan group. For this post, fluency in written and oral English is required.
Assessment Method
Evaluation of qualified candidates for this position may include substantive assessment which will be followed by competency based interview.
