Context
One of Diageo's 21 markets, Western Europe is made up of nine countries not to mention its Wine and Continental Europe beer organisations. Reserve, representing the luxury brands within the Diageo portfolio also has significant presence within Western Europe.
The Western Europe Controls, Compliance & Ethics team are part of the Finance Function, sitting within the Western Europe market.
As part of Western Europe, we seek opportunities for simplification and delivery within the Compliance & Control framework:
  • Single point decision making; focusing on clarity of accountabilities
  • Pragmatic processes focusing on making process users lives easier
  • Delivery of projects at pace focusing on the highest impact items
  • Leveraging best practice and knowledge management
Diageo Nordics is one of the Hubs in Diageo Continental Europe and consists of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The 3 markets are characterised as 'mature' markets with high disposable income per capital. In Sweden and Norway the alcohol market is restricted to state monopoly.
The role
Your main task will be to deliver effective and efficient risk management and controls processes in the Nordics and to continuously drive process improvement to ensure the optimum Compliance and Controls agenda for Western Europe and an effective second line of defence. You will lead the Compliance & Controls processes but also act as business partners in your market to address operational and process risks focusing on high impact areas. Furthermore you will reinforce embedding of the Compliance & Ethics agenda. Other accountabilities are:
  • To bring further structure, direction, and solutions to embed a governance, controls and compliance mind-set and framework in to the fabric of countries under area of responsibility.
  • Joining together all elements of the compliance and controls agenda to build an effective and efficient second line of defence activity.
  • Lead an efficient and risk based CARM and audit process.
  • Proactive risk management for actual and emerging risks.
  • Continuously scan the internal and external world for emerging risks and issues and execute timely mitigation and management of such risks.
Your profile
  • You have a university degree with 4-6 years' experience, preferably obtained in a combination of professional services and industry positions
  • A post masters in accounting is highly preferred
  • Danish or fluency in one of the Scandinavian languages is required
  • Proven experience of cross functional working
  • Skilled in project management, Stakeholder Management, verbal and written communications and driving process improvements
  • Proven experience with a track record of building, developing and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders
  • Exposure to process improvement is a plus
  • Exposure to assessment of process controls is a plus
  • Experience of sales/marketing is a plus
