Job Description
PCI is a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing disease, improving community health, and promoting sustainable development worldwide. With support from United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), PCI Tanzania is implementing Food for Education (FFE) programming as well as research study of new sorghum-based fortified blended foods (Micronutrient Fortified Food Aid Pilot Program, MFFAPP) in the Mara region

Job Summary:
The MFFAPP Coordinator is responsible for managing the field trial study at the community and district level through an integrated approach and focused on achieving the research objectives. S/he will take a lead role in the planning, training, screening, product distribution, monitoring and reporting activities.  S/he is expected to maintain effective working relationships with other PCI staff working on the project, key government partners, beneficiaries and participating health facilities.

5 MFFAPP Community Mobilizers
Responsibilities:
  • To design project training curricula and tools, and coordinate implementation of activities in the preparation for and implementation of the field trial.
  • Develop and update detailed implementation plan for the field trial, in conjunction with Kansas State University (KSU) partners.
  • Advise and provide updates to researchers from KSU on methods and procedures used for recruitment, screening, community sensitization, trainings, monitoring, and data collection for the field trial.
  • Coordinate the execution of activities and sub-activities according to detailed implementation plan, in coordination with other program units and staff, and within budget parameters.
  • Monitor and ensure staff compliance to study protocols.
  • Monitor implementation, oversee data collection, analyze relevant data to inform strategy, approach and implementation
  • Provide ongoing technical support and supportive supervision.
  • Reporting and documentation.
  • Manage relationships and represent PCI with key external stakeholders within technical area, ensuring good communication and exchange of information.
Knowledge:
Master degree or equivalent, MD, Master of Public Health/Nutrition/social sciences or other related field; RN, or RD desirable. Experience in research.

Required Skills
Technical Skills:
Technical ability in designing or adapting public health and nutrition related research and skills in training facilitation, training of trainers, monitoring field trial compliance to data collection protocols, and ensuring the integrity of the data.
Functional Skills:
Demonstrated experience interacting with government officials and community-based stakeholders; excellent project management skills; Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
Professional Attributes:
Working knowledge of monitoring and evaluation procedures and processes.
Other:
Excellent English skills (verbal and written)
Required Experience
5 years' experience in managing or coordinating community health research studies, particularly nutrition studies
