University Academic Fellow in Affective Design Technologies

University Academic Fellow in Affective Design Technologies
Location: Leeds - Main Campus
School/Institute: School of Design
In recent years, there has been growing interest in the use of technologies, such as eye tracking and electroencephalography (EEG), to define the subjective emotional relationships between consumers and products and to explore the affective properties that products communicate through their attributes.
You will develop a research profile in this theme that will contribute to the University's ambition to excel at REF2020, with a sustained record of internationally excellent (and some world-leading) publications and a strong record of presentations at international conferences. Acting as catalyst for collaboration across the School of Design, in partnership with your mentor you will build collaborations (both within the School and externally), organise seminars with international speakers, and network internationally at conferences. You will co-supervise PhDs and seek to integrate your research within the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching portfolio within the School of Design. You will also be expected to submit grant applications for a personal fellowship (e.g. Leverhulme Fellowship; Horizon 2020) and small individual or networking research grants as well as work with colleagues across the University to submit larger grants.

You will have significant proven research experience of imaging technologies such as eye tracking and EEG, the ability to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate level within the School, and a clear and compelling vision for personal academic development. Research expertise in textiles and/or colour would be advantageous.
As part of the application process you will be required to upload the following documents:
1. A CV;
2. A list of publications;
3. A statement detailing your research and academic plan (no more than 2 sides of A4).
