Project Assistant
APCO Worldwide is currently seeking to fill a Project Assistant position within its dynamic and growing team in Brussels for a period of 6 months starting from October 2014 (asap).
The successful candidate will support consultants on one or more of APCO's diverse client practices while also conducting broad research and intelligence assignments for the general purpose of the Brussels office. He/she will be involved in both Public Affairs and communications campaigns.

The Brussels office consists of multilingual consultants with policy expertise in several areas, e.g. healthcare, financial services, ICT, competition, energy and transport. By operating in a collaborative environment, employees are encouraged to work across practice groups, offices, and regions.
Responsibilities:
The following are specific duties performed on a daily basis:
  • Provide general research and intelligence to the office (e.g. monitoring media, institutional developments, policy and legislative updates)
  • Develop understanding of different client/ industry issues through research and monitoring across a wide range of relevant issues
  • Draft client materials (e.g. monitoring, policy and stakeholder mappings)
  • Actively support new business opportunities by contributing to brainstorms, conducting research, compiling bios and preparing decks
  • Support media relations (e.g. drafting press releases, producing media lists)
  • Support event coordination
  • Ad hoc translation
  • Any other tasks as deemed reasonable
Qualifications & Desired Skills:
  • Degree and/or post-graduate degree in European law or politics, media/communication or equivalent;
  • Language skills: Fluency in English (spoken and written), excellent command of another EU Member State language (Spanish, German, Eastern European languages considered as a plus);
  • Prior experience working in the European institutions, in-house, consultancy or within a trade association desirable;
  • Solid understanding of EU policymaking
  • Knowledge and experience in one of the following policy fields is considered a plus (Competition, Transport, Financial Services, Healthcare, FCP, ICT and/or Energy)
  • Computer skills: MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication & writing skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and perform under tight deadlines
  • Initiative and enthusiasm
  • Eligible to work in the EU
