Under the general supervision of the Chief of the Strategic Support Team and the overall direction of the Under Secretary-General (USG) for the Department of Field Support (DFS), the Programme Officer will be responsible for assisting the Office of the USG with operational, policy and cross cutting functions.
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business administration, programme management, economics or a related field is required. A first-level university degree with relevant combination of academic qualifications and extensive experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible work experience in project or programme management, administration or related areas. Experience in policy analysis is desirable. One year of experience in a United Nations peacekeeping or other similar field operations is desirable. Experience in drafting analytical reports, policy briefing, high level speeches and statements is desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
