Program Assistant




Program Assistant
Wellspring Advisors is seeking a program assistant to support its East Africa strengthening civic space program. The assistant will have the opportunity to interact with a dynamic staff working in the fields of international human rights and development. The assistant will report to and take assignments from the program officer and will also provide support to the director of research and evaluation and international program staff as requested.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in the due diligence process for grant applications, support outreach to grantees, and facilitate the grants management process.• Collect and review proposals and reports, maintain grant lists and records, and enter information into the grants database.• Assist staff and consultants with organizing international travel as well as scheduling and coordinating logistics for meetings, calls, and site visits.• Proofread and edit written work and presentations, and prepare written summaries of proposals as requested.• Produce concise news summaries and review and synthesize new research, reports, and data relevant to Wellspring's country programs. Share and disseminate this information with international program staff in a timely manner.• Create spreadsheets, track spending, draft correspondence, and prepare contracts. * Attend meetings and conferences as requested and prepare notes as needed.• Maintain relationships with grantees and funder colleagues. Participate in funder affinity groups and communities of practice.• Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of 1-2 years of programmatic experience in international development, international human rights, or related field.• Experience living or working in sub-Saharan Africa a plus.• Experience with organizational capacity building a plus.• Familiarity with, and commitment to, Wellspring's international program priorities.• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.• Excellent research, writing, editing, and communications skills.• Ability to accurately summarize complex documents and synthesize written material.• Strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.• Experience organizing developing country travel and associated logistics.• Comfort with quantitative data, budgets and financial information.• Initiative, resourcefulness, flexibility, and strong cross-cultural skills.• Ability to handle confidential client information with complete discretion.• Bachelor's degree in related field.
