Enza Zaden Africa Ltd is subsidiary of Enza Zaden in Enkhuizen, the Netherlands. The company is a young, dynamic and strong growing company based in Arusha, Tanzania. The aim of all activities at the location is the production of high quality hybrid vegetable seeds for markets worldwide. This is done in 5 hectares of high tech greenhouses, employing over 200 people, under the GSPP label.

Assistant Technical Manager
Main activities:
- keep operating equipment in the condition to deliver full design duty (reliability),
- ensure plant and equipment run properly when it is required for operation (availability),
- correct our equipment and machines when the design duty cannot be achieved and then return them to design specification (capability), and
- Maintain assets most profitably for the life of the organization. (Life cycle profit).
Specific Tasks
1. Contribute to the reliability and integrity of the mechanical equipment and structures by the application of reliability cantered techniques and work execution within an internal Maintenance Protocol.
2. Ensure sufficient and suitable resources and equipment are available to complete all mechanical repair work.
3. Initiate and develop specific mechanical repair procedures and work instructions.
4. Supervise work execution and carrying out mechanical routine jobs, trouble shooting to mechanical faults.
5. Use maintenance management systems to co-ordinate, distribute and execute work and ensure history data is entered and maintained.
6. Operate workshop.
7. Coach and guide co-workers to be fully competent and experienced mechanical technicians.
8. Introduce systems and tools to the technical team that will continuously, and where possible in a step change, improve the availability of the technical team.
9. Participate in OSHA Trainings and ensure work is carried out in accordance with complex HSE policies and procedures.
10. Responsible for coaching and transfer of knowledge to subordinates.
12. Give feedback of work progress to all involved parties including operation and head of maintenance.
13. Issue daily performance activities report and issue 3-weeks look ahead plan, make sure preventive maintenance is done in time.
14. Involved in Root Cause Analysis and Reliability Cantered Maintenance meetings.
15. Responsible for service and maintenance of all sorts of equipment.
16. Responsible for inspection of lifting / pulling equipment.
17. Initiating contracts with local companies and evaluating competencies.
18. Acting Workshop Manager during his absence.

· The right candidate should have relevant qualifications, fluent in English & Kiswahili, computer knowledge and relevant work experience preferably in the agricultural and/or horticultural sector
