Organizational Setting and Reporting
The internship in the UN Fund for International Partnerships/UN Democracy Fund is for two months with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the department. and with a starting date of January 2015. The internship is unpaid and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the internship position range widely. They may include, but are not limited to: Assisting in reviewing project documents, reports, assessments and evaluations; Assisting in communicating with project grantees in the field; Conducting research on issues related to partnerships, development, human rights and democratic governance; Assisting in overseeing and tracking project implementation; Working on website, newsletter and other outreach materials; Attending, servicing and taking notes at UN conferences and meetings.

Education
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation;
Be computer literate in standard software applications;
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme. However, applicants are encouraged to list all relevant work experience in their personal history profile.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
For the internship advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
Knowledge of French is an advantage.
