Human Resources Specialist
Sandvik, a Swedish based international high technology engineering group with world leading positions in cemented carbide and high speed steel tools for metal cutting; equipment and tools for mining and construction; and advanced stainless steel, specialty alloy and ceramic resistance products and process systems, has an opening for a Human Resources Specialist to support the Southeast US region.
The Role
Our Human Resources Specialist will be professional, motivated and a proactive individual who will provide advice, guidance and coaching to managers regarding complex employee relations and people management issues.
Key Performance Areas
  • Addressing complex queries raised by line managers in relation to HR policies and procedures
  • Supporting the development of employees through coordination with the HRBPs
  • Coaching managers to develop capability and confidence in people management and leadership
  • Applying knowledge and experience in interpreting HR policies and procedures and how they apply to individual employee circumstances; also providing competent advice on application of company policies according to local employment legislation
  • Guiding managers through the management of employee relations issues including performance management and development, potential disciplinary actions, & handling grievances
  • Communication with union representatives in relation to specific employee issues if required
  • Understanding and managing potential risk in relation to employee actions and issues with ability to escalate as appropriate.
Your Profile
  • Graduate degree or certificate in Human Resources, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of  7 years of experience in a Human Resources generalist role with a focus on employee relations and development
  • PHR certification preferred
  • Understanding and exposure to full cycle recruitment and onboarding employees to the organization
  • Providing performance management support and recommending employee training and development
  • Supporting a diverse group of business areas including a unionized environment
  • Ability to plan for and manage various stakeholders through organizational change
  • Effective strategic communication ability
  • Proven ability to prioritize and to handle multiple priorities at once
  • Understanding and respect for confidential documents and circumstances
  • Dealing with compliance issues such as EEO/AAP and FLSA
  • Flexibility and mobility is required to visit business locations in the region as needed
