Communications Officer - Reach For Change
Main Purpose of the Role
To assist the Regional Communications Manager in coordinating internal & external communication for the countries where Reach for Change operates in Africa namely (Ghana, Tanzania, Rwanda, DRC, Chad and Senegal) and manage the Reach for Change Africa blogs and social media to meet organizational mission to mobilize a movement of smart, brave and passionate change agents.  To support in admin related tasks for the Regional Office such as note-taking at meetings, setting up meetings and maintaining contact lists.

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • Fluency in French and English a must (advantageous if you also speak Kinyarwanda and Swahili but not mandatory)
  • Excellent writing, proof-reading and editorial skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Initiative, results oriented with strong planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of html, wordpress, internet publishing tools, photo editing, graphic design and multimedia toole, with a good understanding of the internet as communication tool will be an added advantage
  • Must have completed at least 2 years at university or other tertiary institution
  • Experience in managing Facebook and other social media sites with outstanding results
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage Reach for Change Africa Social Media Pages e.g Facebook Pages (Ghana, Tanzania, Rwanda, DRC, Chad, Senegal) together with Social Media Campaigns
  • Maintain Reach for Change Africa Blog/s according to the blog strategy. Write, edit, update and publish content on the website and associated website(s), sourcing photos to complement the text.
  • Setting up new Change Leaders Blogs (soliciting pictures & content)
  • Manage contacts list & update them periodically
  • Assisting Regional Communications Manager in putting together stories and pictures for Impact Updates
  • Minute taking at meetings on both local and Regional level
  • Update and grow the company's social networking platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
  • Provide any other communication support to Regional Communications Manager and Country Managers as and when needed.
