Resource rights, governance, and policy reform specialist
Chemonics seeks a long-term resource rights, governance, and policy reform specialist for the anticipated USAID-funded Promoting Tanzania's Environment, Conservation, and Tourism (PROTECT) activity that will address threats to biodiversity conservation and promote private sector-led tourism. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
  • Provide overall management, implementation, and monitoring of the policy, research, and advocacy component of the project
  • Promote research, analysis, and infor​mation dissemination to strengthen the policy framework and its enforcement to create the context and capacity for biodiversity conservation and simultaneous local economic growth
Qualifications:
  • ​Advanced degree in natural resource management, environmental science, environmental or conservation policy, environmental law and enforcement, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience addressing conservation and tourism policy issues and reforms, including wildlife security and wildlife trafficking
  • Experience in community-driven conservation practices and applicable policy frameworks
  • Minimum of five years of experience working in East Africa required; recent experience working in Tanzania highly preferred​
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
