BEUC, The European Consumer Organisation, is looking to recruit a creative and hands-on Online Community Manager and Capacity Building Assistant, full-time to start as soon as possible with 1 year contract renewable up to 2 times (depending on funding).

Your tasks:

The Online Community Manager and Capacity Building Assistant will be called upon to build or extend the social media presence of a "capacity building for consumer professional" programme, so called Consumer Champion, and will support the project team in the implementation.
His/her task will be to create buzz (awareness, interest) around the activities of the capacity building programme, and to build engagement with interested communities in order to bring them closer to the European Consumer Affairs debate. The Community Manager will – among other – take over the following tasks:
  • Moderate discussion forums, Q&A and blogs as well as validate members and coordination of interaction between course participants and animating and encouraging participation and contributions by organisations;
  • Update regularly the content on the web pages of the capacity building programme, including the information related to the use of the interface for the capacity building materials, and inform the users accordingly;
  • Facilitate the work of the Capacity Building Team by supporting the implementation and development of the capacity building activities.

Profile

  • The successful candidate will have proven experience of successful social media communication and community building, and extensive knowledge of the EU social media landscape;
  • S/he must have some experience and understanding of capacity building/training/education, and EU Affairs (experience working with public institutions is an asset);
  • S/he must have excellent knowledge of spoken and written English. Good knowledge of French and additional EU language is an asset;
  • The successful candidate will be an assertive team player with excellent personal communication skills.

Essential characteristics:

  • University degree in Communication and/or EU affairs;
  • Minimum two year successful professional experience in social media communication and/or capacity building programme;
  • Familiarity with a variety of relevant social media platforms and tools and Web-page updating and writing;
  • Digital literacy and good writing and presentation skills;
  • Interest in and willingness to learn about consumer affairs.
