THE ORGANIZATION
John Snow, Inc. (JSI), a US-based technical assistance firm, is implementing various public health-related projects in Tanzania aimed at strengthening the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare's (MOHSW) service delivery, with funding from United States Government through USAID, CDC and other US agencies represented in Tanzania. 
The Supply Chain Management System (SCMS), MCSP and USAID|DELIVER PROJECT are implemented under United States Agent for International Development (USAID) contracts through funding from United States of America government (USG). These projects managed in Tanzania by John Snow, Inc. (JSI) provides quality medicines, strengthens and establishes secure, reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable supply chains, capable of meeting the prevention, care and treatment needs of people of Tanzania including those living with and affected by HIV and AIDS.
JSI Tanzania field office seeks to employ a dynamic and self oriented persons to work as Project Drivers under the guidance of Fleet Manager and Regional Logistic Coordinators, the positions will be based in Dar es Salaam, Moshi, Tabora and Mwanza zones.
TITLE:                   Driver
REPORTS TO:      Supplyc Chain Monitoring Advisor
LOCATION:         Dar es Salaam, Moshi, Tabora and Mwanza zones
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide transportation services to Project staff, official visitors and related support activities.
 Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
  1. Drive JSI allocated vehicle and observe all road rules and signs according to the required legal and traffic conditions.
  2. Carry out different inspection of the vehicle before driving such as checking of coolant, oils and other fluids.
  3. Carry out minor vehicle repairs and other emergency activities such as flat tyres during any road breakdowns.
  4. Update all vehicle documents such as car registration and insurance.
  5. Maintain a car log book, fuel and oil requisition books and prepare a logbook summary each day.
  6. Maintain cleanliness of the motor vehicle.
  7. Collect and deliver documents, parcels or mails as directed by the supervisor.
  8. Perform other work related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Key Outputs 
  • Well-kept and maintained allocated vehicle.
  • Transportation services provided to project staff and official visitors.
  • Observed traffic rules and defensive driving.
  •  Vehicle logbook and other documentation kept up to date
  • Accurate and timely delivery of project documents, mails and parcels.
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required    
  • Higher driving license (E, C1, C2, C) and experience.
  • Basic knowledge in mechanics and vehicle repair and maintenance.
  • Good English and Swahili communication skills required
  • Ability to work under pressure and longer hours when periodically required.
  • Good teamwork and interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to deal appropriately with sensitive issues and maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
