The position is in the Interpretation and Translation and Unit. Appointment against this position is limited to the United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials (UNAKRT). The initial appointment will be for a period of one year. An extension is subject to the extension of the mandate of UNAKRT and/or the availability of funding. Education
Advanced university degree (Master's Degree or equivalent) in translation, linguistics, law or any other relevant field. A first-level university degree in any of these fields plus two additional years of relevant working experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Preference will be given to candidates for this position who have passed the United Nations Competitive Examination for Translators (French).

A minimum of five years of experience in translation, preferably including three years of translation in the United Nations, an international tribunal, an international organisation or an international body dealing with legal matters.

Languages
The official working languages of the ECCC are Khmer, English and French. For this particular post, the incumbent must have a perfect command of French, which must be the candidate's main language and an excellent knowledge of English. Knowledge of Khmer is an asset.
