As the part of Opportunity's International network, OTL's mission is to make available to the economically disadvantaged members of Tanzanian society, small business loans and other appropriate financial services that, coupled with the necessary training, enable them to develop and sustain income generating and job creating enterprises.

As an expanding company were are looking for key staff in the following vacancies.

 

POSITION TITLE	Financial Accountant
REPORTS DIRECTS TO	Finance Manager
LOCATION	Dar Es Salaam
CLOSING DATE	28th July 2014

 

1: JOB PURPOSE

To control the financial management systems of Opportunity by extracting and interpreting information from financial records, advising on strategic direction as well as advising managers on daily financial decisions.

 

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·         Validates and approves for entry into the accounting and product system revenues and expenses in accordance with policy.

·         Collates data compile, validates, justifies and submit to the Financial Controller for approval all capital expenditures.

·         Record and account for all assets and liabilities in accordance with company policies.

·         Ensures the proper use and disbursement of funds in accordance with the company's policies.

·         Coordinates with Treasury Department in the management of the company's funds (bank and cash balances).

·         Prepares weekly and monthly financial statements on the company's business

·         Prepares weekly revenue and expense highlights and submit detailed/make up of general ledger balances to FC.

·         Prepares weekly expenditure projections to guide cash management at the head office

·         Ensure compliance with audit and quality assurance standards in the maintenance of the company's general ledger.

 

3. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Qualification

 

·         Bachelor Degree or its equivalent in Accounting or Finance (ICA/ ICMA/CPA/ACCA)

·         Three (3) years post qualification experience as an Accountant in a financial service industry.

 

·         Financial Accounting Experience and Training

 

·         Experience and training in management accounting, lending/credit management, profitability and cost management gained from a financial, banking and/or micro lending background

·         Advanced knowledge and experience in budget control policies, systems and procedures and setting annual budget projections

 

Banking Compliance Regulations and Legal Legislation

 

·         Advance knowledge of related statutory and regulatory banking compliance regulations, accounting principles, and tax laws

·         Knowledge of General Banking or Financial Services Act, banking and business laws, local legal legislation, local employment and labor laws

·         Planning and Performance Management

·         Ability to set and deliver business goals

·         Ability to set, monitor, and assess achievements against performance targets, quality standards, and service agreements that aligns with business plan

·         Ability to monitor profitability and efficiency budgets

 

Reporting and Communication Skills

 

·         Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, speak clearly to third parties and employees, interpret documents, understand procedures, and write reports and correspondence

 

Organisation, Interpersonal, and People Management Skills

 

·         Ability to enthuse, inspire, develop and motivate employees

·         Ability to supervise, train and develop, provide feedback, support, and encouragement to staff

·         Excellent organisation, delegation, performance management, administration, analytical and time management skills

 

Personal Computer Operation

·         Intermediate skills in personal computer operation

·         Emerge user skills

·         Reporting and communication software programmes – word processing, PowerPoint presentation, and spreadsheet;

·         Typing speed to meet production needs of the position
