Finance Officer , Tanzania Association of Environmental Engineers

 
Tanzania Association of Environmental Engineers (TAEEs) is a Non-Governmental Organization established in 2004 and registered under civil societies Ordinance cap 337 in June Republic of Tanzania and compliance to NGOs Act number 24 of the year 2002. As a Non-Governmental Organization has been fully engaged in community activities and areas of concentration are diverse and covers water supply and sanitation, solid waste management, public health and hygiene education, engineering construction supervision of infrastructures, Environmental and institutional development studies. Currently TAEEs operate in Mbeya, Karagwe & Mtwara.

DESIGNATION: Finance Officer

LOCATION: Dar es Salaam REPORTING: Executive Director

SALARY SCALE: - FS1G1 to FS1G4 depending on experience OPPORTUNITIES: flexible to travel upcountry for monitoring purposes GENDER: Non-biased (depends on qualification)

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Administer and monitor the financial system in order to ensure that the organization finances are maintained in an accurate and timely manner

2. Assist with funding submissions to TAEEs primary funders, corporate sponsors and other donors.

3. In Conjunction with the Management Team, establish and maintain TAEEs Financial Policy and Procedures.

4. Maintain the accounts payable and accounts receivable systems in order to ensure

5. complete and accurate records of all moneys

6. Approves payments, purchase authorizations and other financial transactions to ensure compliance with financial rules and implementing instruments/authority.

7. Ensure all expenses are within assigned project budget.

8. Supervises the preparation of the end of month accounts before forwarding them to ED

9. In close coordination with Field/Sub Offices/Programme Section, maintains a system to monitor and forecast cash requirements to meet administrative and project expenditures.

10. Constantly reviews banking arrangements to ensure timely transfer of funds and minimize exchange loses and bank charges;

11. To advise the Organization on all budgetary and financial matters;

 
12. Briefs new staff members or staff assigned to the Field on finance matters;

13. Conduct periodic financial analysis to identify and resolve issues, gaps or variances.

14. Contribute to the preparation of annual organizational and project budgets

15. Contribute to the preparation of monthly income and expenditure statements and budget comparison and cash flow reports.

16. Enter all income and expenditure transactions into accounting system.

17. Prepare financial year end schedules, including debtors and creditors, and ensure all accounting requirements, up to and including trial balance, are complete.

18. Liaise with and assist external auditor in respect of annual financial statements and related matters.

Academic Qualifications

University degree or advanced diploma in Accounting & Finance, Business Administration from recognized University

Compulsory

Knowledge on finance systems such QuickBooks, Tally, MYOB, and any other system related to finance

Required Experience

Two years' experience  in accounting/finance

Computer skills in excel & database

Managerial and Technical Skills

Supervisory responsibilities

Ability to manage/administer a finance unit, ability to rationalize work, delegate tasks, apply advanced systems to simplify work and negotiate systems improvements, propose solutions to make best use of staff and financial resources

Ability to prepare and administer budgets & manage finance department

Analytical/Communication/inter-personal skills

Ability to work under highly stressful conditions

Ability to work with computers

Writing/drafting skills

Ability to train and educate other people in the respective area/department
