As Accountability Adviser providing maternity cover within our Programmes Effectiveness & Country Engagement (PE&CE) Team, your role will be to advise World Vision UK in meeting industry standards of accountability in respect of our humanitarian and development work as well as supporting and learning from the piloting of new approaches to accountability.
World Vision is a leader amongst international NGOs on enhancing our accountability to those for whom our programming is designed to benefit. And yet we have a lot still to learn. This maternity cover role will be central to maximising and then sharing the learning from a series of accountability pilots we are running in four World Vision National Offices (Ethiopia, Somaliland, Pakistan and Zimbabwe) as well as supporting the tender we have with DFID to pilot new accountability approaches in seven DFID funded projects. This learning will be central to debates on how to make development programming more accountable to beneficiaries and adaptable to context, and in this role you will play a vital role in contributing to thinking in the sector.
In addition you will:
- Undertake key tasks to ensure the success of the Beneficiary Feedback Mechanisms Pilot project including training and capacity building of partners and monitoring of activities
- Produce documents and presentations based on experience from Accountability Learning Initiatives and Beneficiary Feedback Pilot
- Draft accountability sections of the annual Impact Report and other reports
- Work across the organisation to strengthen WVUK's commitment to transparency and represent WVUK on the BOND Transparency Working Group
As a Christian, this role offers you the opportunity to integrate your Christian faith within WVUK and be sensitive to its various expressions across cultures and denominations. You must be able to travel around 25% of the year to the regions where WVUK operates and there is an option to be based in the Milton Keynes office full-time or in our London (Victoria) office up to 2 days a week.
Applicants must possess a minimum of a Bachelors degree or equivalent in a related field such as development studies,international relations, sociology or anthropology, with Masters graduates having an added advantage. You will need experience of programme work in relation to accountability and M&E in a developing country or related experience gained within an international NGO.
