SUB-EDITOR (X3) POSITION


The Tanzania Standard (Newspapers) Limited is a limited liability company owned by the Government of the United.
Republic of Tanzania. The company publishes Tanzania's leading newspapers - Daily News, Sunday News,
HabariLeo, HabariLeo Jumapili and SpotiLeo. •
The company wishes to recruit suitably qualified Sub-Editors and Senior Writers for its English publications.
1. SUB•EDITOR

Qualifications:
Holder of M.A in Journalism / Mass communication or its equivalent from a recognized Institution. Must have at least
Seven (7) years relevant work experience. S/he must have computer skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
1) Writing, rewriting and editing text
2) Making sure that 'house style' is adhered to
3) Verifying information and story details, including figures, names of people and places ','
4) Researching for additional/ background information for writers' stories, features and commentaries
5) Making sure that stories are accurate and do not compromise legality
6) Proposing/developing graphics, data analysis, and other visual story elements
7) Gathering and preparing information for foreign news pages
8) Designing page layouts'
9) Ensuring that stories are the right length and correctly placed on pages
10) Sizing photographs and placing them within relevant articles
11) Signing off pages for printing ,
12) Mentoring writers .
13) Developmq individual targets and performance standards as part of the individual performance agreement in.
consultation with the section head
14) Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the head of section
