The Institute of African Leadership for Sustainable Development
(UONGOZI Institute), operating under the auspices of the Office
of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, was
established by the Government of Tanzania in 2010. The Institute
provides training to leaders from Tanzania and beyond, organizes
high-level policy forums and dialogues, and carries out research
on leadership and sustainable development.

Trainer

Through our training programmes, leaders acquire the skills and
knowledge to understand the complex world of choices, to make
sound and strategic decisions that can envision the future and to
enhance their personal leadership qualities. The training
solutions are both inspiring and empowering, delivered by.,
national, regional and international experts using the best mix of
learning methodologies for adult learning.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The main responsibility of the Trainer is to support the, Training
Department in. the designing, development and evaluation of
Leadership Development' Programmes. In adcmon, the trainer'
will conduct research on areas of leadership development and
sustainable development. The trainer reports to Head of Training

Specifically the candidate for this position will be:
• Supporting the Capacity Development Department in '
designing, developing, delivery and evaluation of Leadership
Development Programmes.
Supporting the preparation of learning and training materiats ,
in collaboration with UONGOZI Institute's approved'
facilitators and consultants. " ..
• Playing an active role in assuring the quality and relevance of
learning and training materials according to the identified
needs of UONGOZl lnstitute's:clients. i
Ensuring developed programmes align with UONGOZI,
Institute's approved Leadership Development Framework
Conducting research on relevant issues in line with toe
leadership development strategy, and other UONGOZI
Institute focus areas
Keep abreast of new developments in research as they relate
to leadership programmes.
• Working closely with local, regional and international experts
to ensure programmes are delivered as per the UONGOZI
Institute's mandate to ensure professionalism in skills
transfer
• Working closely with the Capacity Development Department
team and other departments and units to ensure timely
delivery of services.
Collaborating with other Institutions that may add value to
UONGOZI Institute's programmes and maintain relationships
as appropriate. .
• Performing any other duties or assiqnments as, directed by.
his/her-supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
'At the minimum, the Trainer should have:
(i) Master's in social sciences, or any other closely related field
(ii) 5 years' experience in designing, developing, and
evaluating training programmes for adults or other senior
level staff
(iii) Knowledge and prior application of adult learning theories
and methodology with aproven track record in coordinating
programmes for adult learners
(iv) A strong understanding UONGOZI Institute's Leadership
Development Programme
(v) A minimum of 3 years' experience in conducting research on
.' areas of ieadership Development as an added advantage
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
Excellent Written and Verbal Communication' skills (fluency in
English and Swahili)
• Multi-tasking skills
Independence (Ability to work with little or no supervision)
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
Strategic thinking skills
Good interpersonal skills

REMUNERATION

Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The main responsibility of the Monitoring and
Evaluation Officer is to manage the institute's
monitoring and evaluation system; and coordinate the
institute's planning processes and progress and
performance reporting. The Monitoring and Evaluation
Officer reports to the CEO.
Specifically, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will
be responsible for:

• Further developing and implementing the Institute's
RBM-based monitoring and evaluation framework
and system
• Carrying out/commissioning periodic evaluations
• Quarterly and annual progress and performance
reports
• Coordinating annual and other planning processes

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
At the minimum, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
will have:
• Master's degree in business administration, social
sciences, statistics, or any other related field
• Six years of relevant work experience
• Four years experience in M&E and institutional
planning
• Good understanding of the results based
management (RBM) approach
As an added advantage, successful candidate should possess:
• An understanding of the total quality management
(TOM) approach
• Experience with computerized M&E systems
• Experience with donor funded projects
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer is expected to
have:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The ability to inspire others;to be creative and
innovative
Strong analytical skills
A responsible and independent attitude
The ability to meet tight deadlines
Good interpersonal skills; and
Proficiency in English; with Kiswahili as an added
advantage
