2014 'Boutique Hotel' award winning Unguja Lodge, Kizimkazi, Zanzibar,
has recently joined the world renowned Emerson Spice and Emerson on
Hurumzi hotels to form a triad of well established, flourishing
hotels, each of which enjoys its own unique reputation as an
original, stylish and comfortable hotel with its own distinctive
culinary style.
Emerson's hotels have featured in worldwide travel and design
magazines, photography books and Condé Nast publications, all of which
note Emerson's signature flamboyance and extravagant design, as well
as recognising his originality in culinary expertise and unique,
Swahili inspired menus.
Unguja Lodge complements these town based hotels well with its
ecodesign and stunning location on the coast near the historic village
of Kizimkazi; peaceful and secluded it is well removed from Zanzibar's
busy tourist beaches.
The concept as a whole has been developed to ensure the lodge works in
harmony with the natural environment and the people who live around
it, a philosophy that gives the place a distinctive air of
tranquility.
The lodge sits on a small coral cliff, close to an abundant marine
life where a short swim or boat ride from the beach provides excellent
snorkeling and scuba diving; while on land there are an astonishing
variety of birds, insects, plants and animals.
The buildings' organic forms and stylish finish are complemented by
the lush tropical setting and the rough coral boulders that surround
it, but the place is more than just image, it's an establishment known
for its character, warmth and personality; and the person we are
seeking to manage this unique lodge must have attention to detail, a
love of 'good living', food, a warm personality to welcome the guests
as well as a sensitive management style to continue to support the
friendly and enthusiastic staff who work at the lodge.
A necessary requirement for this post is experience of lodge
management in East Africa.
