The International Rescue Committee (IRC) IRC Tanzania is present in the Kigoma Region, Northwestern Tanzania, providing services in Nyarugusu refugee camp in Kasulu District and at a transit centre in Kigoma town. Approximately 160,000 Burundians and Congolese refugees, the vast majority from Burundi receive protection and basic assistance in the areas of Child and Youth Protection and Development, Community based rehabilitation for persons with disabilities and special needs, and Gender based violence / Women's protection and empowerment (WPE).
IRC seeks to recruit qualified, energetic and committed candidates to fill the following position:
Position: Finance Officer (1)
Location: Kibondo - Kigoma
Reporting to: Finance Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
a. Prepare cash and bank payment vouchers needed for the day to day financial transactions
b. Ensure that all payment-supporting documents are complete and are in accordance with IRC financial procedures and regulations.
c. Issues cash receipts for all collected and incoming payments.
d. Withdrawal cash from BANK for Office petty cash and Bank regularly and keep all receipts intact
e. Maintenance of accounting voucher/records including rubber-stamping paid invoices/voucher / cash requests/ writing Cheque numbers
f. Update the Finance Manager on cash balances on regular basis
g. Filling all finance documents and tracking all the payment done at Kibondo site when needed.
h. Ensure that once cheques are signed they are sent to the vendors
i. Assist in the Implementation of finance policies, procedures, systems, Tanzania law and standards of accounting practices.
j. Reconcile program advances given to Kibondo staff on monthly basis and ensure that the advances are liquidated promptly.
k. Ensure that statutory deductions are remitted on time to avoid any penalty.
l. Assist in making a follow-up of staff advances and ensuring that all advances are liquidated.
m. Stamp all paid vouchers and documents with "PAID" stamp.
n. Perform field office financial management duties when Finance Manager is out of duty station
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Degree in finance or accounting, CPA or equivalent
- Prior knowledge of SUN system is a plus
- Excellent knowledge in excel and relevant accounting packages
- Minimum of two years relevant experience
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial data, understand and technical procedures.
- Ability to write reports as per procedure in Finance manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees and coordinators.
